There are infinite paths you can take. The one that feels most true is your dharma.

My Story

I have been fortunate enough to have doulas supporting the births of both our sons. I know first-hand the incredible impact having a doula by your side can make. I want to share the gift of ‘doula-ing’ with you; offering continuity of care, respect and support throughout your rite of passage into motherhood.

Since becoming pregnant with my first son, I have been utterly in awe of women and our incredible capacity to create new life, birth and sustain it. There is nothing more powerful than a woman in the full, primal, flow of undisturbed birth. Birth can be a transformational experience, reconnecting us to our most fundamental, mammalian state and reminding us that we are capable of so much more than we think; birth taught me what I can do and who I can be.

As a birth doula, I hold space for you to access and listen to the wisdom of your body as you prepare to welcome a new baby into your world. I am passionate about empowering women to take control of their birth experience, knowing that sometimes birth can go off script, but understanding that it is how a woman feels, how they are spoken to, how they are listened to and seen, that can impact how they feel about their birth experience.

I support you to not only understand the physiology of birth “mother nature's exquisite design” but to reconnect with the deep wisdom of your body and your baby. Our bodies are made to grow, birth and nourish our babies. We can access this deep knowing again; connecting back with the body, the breath and with our babies.

Restorative Yoga

As part of my offerings to you, I invite you to take part in breath practises and restorative yoga.

Birth is rarely easy, but often breath can be a gateway to ease, soften and surrender to the process. Yoga is a wonderful way to feel back into your body, your instincts and your intuition. Yoga and breathwork can also be tools to quieten the mind, soften the sounds of the outside world, and enable you to truly connect with your baby both in pregnancy and birth.

During our birth preparation sessions I invite you to tune back in and support you with practises to do this. As part of my postnatal care I also offer private restorative yoga classes encompassing meditation, breathwork and gentle restful postures perfect for early postpartum.

Breathing in, I calm body and mind. Breathing out, I smile.

The doula effect

A doula provides:

  • 1-2-1 continuity of care. I will be with you through pregnancy, birth and into your postpartum period. You are my priority.

  • Physical support. This includes offering comfort measures throughout pregnancy and birth.

  • Emotional support. I will be beside you deeply listening and holding space as you move through this transformational chapter.

  • Evidence based childbirth education. I will provide relevant research and data to ensure you feel fully supported and informed in your choices.

  • A doula is not medically trained and does not perform any medical procedures or processes.

What are the benefits?

  • 39% decrease in the risk of a caesarean

  • 15% increase in the likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth

  • Shorter labours by an average of at least 41 minutes

  • 23% increased chance of exclusively breastfeeding at 6 weeks

If a doula were a drug, it would be unethical not to use it
